Why should I rent a car with Enterprise through the USAA program? When you rent with Enterprise, you receive not only a member discount on everyday low rates, but also the following special benefits reserved for USAA members:

  • Liability protection included: $25,000 bodily injury, $50,000 bodily injury or death per accident, $10,000 property damage
  • Limited damage responsibility: If optional Damage Waiver (DW) is not purchased, memberís responsibility for damage to the rental vehicle is limited to the first $5,000
  • No additional charge for indirect loss charges on rentals to cover the car in the event it is out of commission and unable to be rented
  • No additional driver fee for your spouse or other USAA members in your family
  • No additional charge for under age drivers (21-24)
  • Unlimited mileage at participating locations on most vehicles except for one-way rentals.

How do I reserve a car and get USAA benefits?

NOTE: At the time of rental, you may be asked to present your USAA affiliation card. For example you can present your USAA credit card or auto insurance card as proof of membership.

Do I need to make an advance reservation to get the USAA discount? No, but to ensure availability we recommend making reservations at least 24 hours in advance. Some specialty vehicles may require more than 24 hours.

Can I pay for a rental with a debit card?
Airport Locations: When renting in the US: Debit Cards will be accepted with proof of a round trip travel ticket (airline, cruise ship or train) at time of rental.

Home City (Non-Airport) Locations: Renters who would like to use a debit card for their deposit may need to complete a cash qualification process in order to use a debit card. We are happy to assist you with rental qualifications specific to the renting branch. Please contact the local Enterprise location to determine what is needed when renting with a debit card or cash.

I need to rent a vehicle outside of the United States. Do my USAA benefits member discount rates apply to international rentals? No, the USAA program benefits apply to rentals only in the U.S. and Canada.

Can I reserve a specific make/model of car? Sorry but we are unable to guarantee specific make/model of vehicles.

Can I specifically reserve a non-smoking car? All vehicles are non-smoking and renters should not smoke in them.

NOTE: Additional cleaning fees will apply if a vehicle is returned in a condition where it needs to be cleaned and deodorized due to smoking.

What is the minimum rental age? The minimum age is 21 years. USAA members 21 to 24 years old are exempt from a youthful driver fee.

I want to list my spouse or domestic partner as an additional driver on the rental. Will I incur an additional driver fee? There is no additional driver fee for the spouse or domestic partner of a USAA member.

Will I be charged extra mileage fees? Free Unlimited Mileage is available on most vehicles, but is excluded on one-way rentals.

Do I have to refuel my car before returning it? The following are the 3 refueling options:

  1. Return the vehicle at the same level of fuel as at the start of the rental and avoid the fee described in Option 3.
  2. Choose the pre-pay fuel option (cost varies by location) and return the vehicle without refueling.
  3. If the vehicle is returned without refueling, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price.

What is the No Show Fee policy for Enterprise? Enterprise does not charge No-Show fees. We ask that reservations are cancelled 24 hours in advance.

Will I be charged One-Way fees? Enterprise offers one way rentals between most major airports within the same area. Dropping at a different location will result in a one way drop charge for most locations and this fee will show in the reservation details once you have entered the locations.

What are the toll fee options?

  • Northeast or Chicago area: Enterprise offers a toll pass transponder device which allows members to bypass toll booths without stopping. The tolls will be charged by our toll vendor to the credit card used on the rental.
    NOTE: If the renter does not use the toll pass option, and there is a toll road violation (driving through the toll booth without paying), then a letter will be sent to the renter requesting payment for the toll plus a charge up to $15.00 for administrative fees per rental.
  • All other areas: The renter can either stop and pay at the toll booth or drive through without stopping. If the renter chooses the latter, then the renter can expect to be charged not only the toll charge, but also our Toll Pass Convenience Charge of $2.00 per toll.

Suppose I'm in an accident in the U.S. and my vehicle sustains damage. What should I do? Handle the matter as if your personal vehicle were involved in an accident by sharing relevant information with the other party. Report the accident to local authorities, your insurance company and to Enterprise. More information as well as 24-hour roadside assistance can be found on the rental agreement.

What happens after a claim is filed with Enterprise? Once a claim has been filed with Enterprise, our Damage Recovery team will contact you to discuss the accident and USAA benefits.
NOTE: If the terms of the rental agreement have been violated, benefits may not apply.

In the event of damage to a rental vehicle, the USAA renter's liability for damage to the rental vehicle is limited to the first $5,000 of damage without purchase of a Damage Waiver (DW).

For the USAA renter, Enterprise provides primary liability coverage of $25,000 bodily injury coverage or death per person, to a maximum of $50,000 bodily injury or death for any one accident, and $10,000 property damage for each accident.

Enterprise waives collection of fees and costs like loss of use, administrative and diminutions of value for USAA members renting under the program.
