Samos International Airport (SMI) is sometimes referred to as Aristarchos Airport (an ancient Greek astronomer). This hub is found approximately five kilometres outside of the town of Pythagorio and its runways are considered to be some of the most difficult to navigate, due to the presence of nearby mountains. Some local and international carriers that operate to and from this location include Astra Airlines, Germania, Eurowings, Smartwings and Thomson Airways.
