What are the age requirements for renting a car in Portugal?

Cars available for rent include Mini, Economy, and Compact.
- A young drivers fee of 7.70 EUR per day will apply, up to a maximum 77.00 EUR per rental. Prices are subject to change.
Age 21 - 24
Cars available for rent include Compact Automatic, Compact Wagon, Intermediate, Intermediate Wagon, Convertible, and all Commercial Vans.
Age 25 and Over
Cars available for rent include all the above, plus Intermediate Van, Standard Van, Fullsize, Fullsize Wagon, Fullsize Van, and Premium Vehicles.

Tips for driving in Portugal
While traveling throughout Portugal, be sure to keep the following info in mind:
- You should only use the left or middle lanes to pass other cars. Passing on the right is not permitted and can lead to hefty fines.
- Highway on-ramps are usually much shorter than the ones in the United States. If traffic is not clear, you may have to come to a complete stop before merging onto the highway.
- Some gas stations and toll booths do not accept credit or debit cards. It is recommended that you keep cash with you in case this happens.
- Roundabouts are used commonly in Portugal, and oftentimes they consist of two lanes. The right lane should only be used if you're taking the first exit. Otherwise, stay in the left lane until you're ready to exit the roundabout.
