What is liability limitation and how does it work?

The limitation of liability (liability reduction) protects you in the event of accident damage or theft of the vehicle. It's included in your rental cost and limits your financial responsibility (also known as your "deductible") should something go wrong. If you would like to further reduce this amount, you can purchase additional protection options such as Advanced Liability Reduction.

Vehicle rental excess amounts:

If the limitation of liability is already included in your reservation, the following excess amounts apply:

• For all Car and SUV categories in sizes Mini, Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Small Passenger Vans a 1200.00 EUR excess deductible applies.
• For Fullsize and Premium vehicles, Large Passenger Vans, Large SUVs and Luxury Elite Electric vehicles the excess deductible is 1700.00 EUR.
• For Small Cargo Vans the excess deductible is 1400.00 EUR and for all other Cargo Vans an excess deductible of 1500.00 EUR applies.

Extended liability reduction for rental cars (extended fully comprehensive protection):

The extended liability reduction is an optional protection through which the tenant can reduce his deductible:

• If this protection is purchased, the excess deductible is reduced to 0 EUR for all vehicles types.
