Alternative routes involve taking the A2 highway.

The airport provides a wide range of short and medium-haul international connections and cargo routes, predominantly through Europe and Turkey. The busiest routes include Istanbul, Basel, Vienna, Zürich, Antalya, Memmingen, Dortmund and Cologne. It operates as a hub for the Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, which offers flights to many European cities.

Aside from serving the city, it provides useful travel links for the cities of Tetovo and Kumanovo, both accessible via highways.
