Between Place General de Gaulle and the cathedral is Rue Jeanne de’Arc, a street dedicated to the local heroine with several boutiques and patisseries. The liberation of Orleans is celebrated from the end of April until the first week of May. Starting with the ceremonial entrance of Joan of Arc into the city through the Port de Bourgogne, the festival includes concerts and exhibitions. There are also sound and light shows, fireworks, a medieval festival and market, and other events.

Places to Visit Outside Orleans
