Tampa International Airport sits about 10 miles west of downtown Tampa. Most drives between the airport and downtown take around 15 to 25 minutes depending on traffic conditions and the time of day. The airport is generally considered one of the easier major Florida airports to navigate.

Traffic in Tampa is busiest during weekday commuting hours along Interstate 275, Interstate 4, and major bridges crossing the bay. Tourism, sporting events, and beach traffic can also increase congestion throughout the metro area during weekends and holiday periods. Afternoon storms occasionally slow traffic during summer months.

Parking near downtown Tampa and the Riverwalk is generally manageable through a mix of garages, lots, and metered street parking. Demand increases significantly during concerts, Lightning games, festivals, and major events near the waterfront. Visitors usually find parking easier earlier in the day and outside event periods.

Ybor City, Channelside, and downtown Tampa are among the city’s busiest areas for restaurants, bars, breweries, and nightlife.
